Skirmish Custom Maps Command & Conquer Remastered

Trying to filter out some of these junk maps I have downloaded. The only way I can find how to remove them from my list is to search them online, make sure it has the green checkmark meaning I have downloaded it, and click delete.

Thing is, I have a TON of downloaded maps. A lot of them are complete garbage. I really would just like to clear them all out. So it was tedious, I was going one by one until I found out that some maps have actually been removed from online download, meaning I am forever stuck with this map.

I found an article telling a user to browse the path on PC to:

C:\Users\Username\Documents\CnCRemastered\Local_Custom_Maps\Red_Alert

I deleted them all, went into the game and they were still listed. Then I just decided to delete the whole CnC Remastered folder, and re launch and have the game rebuild that folder structure, which it did, but with all the junk maps too!

Any ideas?

  • @FN-0678 If this is the Steam version, maps (and mods) you download through the in-game interface are actually stored (in packed format) in the Steam folders. You can find them in the Steam folder, under

    \steamapps\workshop\content\1213210

You can identify them by ID (matches the workshop URLs), or use a tool like OS Big Editor to look inside the file (they are the same format as the game's .meg archives) to see which map they are.

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\1213210

Found it, deleted all the folders in there, still showing up in my game. 😢

  • I noticed on steam it says backup save game files maybe its keeping my maps on the cloud because even after uninstalling and re install the game, the maps are still there?

I think there's some file inside the steam workshop folders that keeps track of the things to sync; you can probably just edit that (while Steam is closed) and remove the maps for it to make sure they are removed permanently.

  • First delete the map file names in this folder. Delete all three files for each map. (*.json, *.mpr, *.tgr)

    C:\Users\"your user name"\Documents\CnCRemastered\Local_Custom_Maps\Red_Alert

Then delete the same map files in this folder.

    C:\Documents and Settings\"your user name"\AppData\Roaming\CnCRemastered\UGC

These are the standard folders for Window 10. Your install could be different. If so, do a search for them.

I just opened two File Explorer windows side by side viewing above folders. Clicked each .mpr file to see the map name. Then deleted the ones I did not want in both File Explorer windows. They were gone the next time I loaded the game. Hope this helps.
