Solution (sort of) for C&C 3 not launching via the EA app

I've managed to get C&C3 working, that is C&C 3 the original, not Kane's Wrath. For Kane's Wrath I don't know but maybe it'll work if you have the original disk.

I still own/have my original C&C3 Kane Edition dvd release. 

My solution was to make an ISO from it as I couldn't be arsed attaching a dvd drive to my laptop just to play it. 

Once installed I also then installed the EA app version as part of my TUC.

The steps then are: 

• Open two instances of File Explorer, in one go to the directory where the EA app version of C&C3 is installed. In my case this is "C:\Apps\EAGames\Command and Conquer 3 TW and KW\Command Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars"

It is important to note the directory is for C&C3 and not the parent directory where the folders of both the game and the expansion are i.e. not "C:\Apps\EAGames\Command and Conquer 3 TW and KW"

• In the other instance/file explorer window, open the directory where the disk version is installed. The layout should be similar to the ea app version minus a few folders/bits and pieces (my disk version is 1.0)

In the directory where the EA app version is installed, delete C&C3.exe.

Select and copy the rest.

Paste into and merge/replacing the fields where prompted into the directory the disk version is installed.

Run the exe and enjoy! Although I hear using a mod to rebalance it to version 1.0 as 1.9 broke the SP and made it almost impossible to win (something to do with MP balancing being added to the SP as well) as is usual for EA not doing any real bloody work and fleecing everyone as usual. 

DM me if you need a 1.0 iso of my disk version.

Final note, even this forum's formatting and new post page is awful, kind of fitting what with the rest of their half arsedness
