Activation Manager Not Connecting (Dead Space 2 bought from Steam)

My Partner bought Dead Space 2 on STEAM some time ago, but has never been able to play it. When it's started up, it brings up the activation manager and will think for a few minutes before spitting ...

I had the same problem, but by flushing my DNS the problem just went away.
If you have Win7 or Vista:
Click Start and type cmd.exe in the search bar, then press enter.
Right-click the cmd.exe icon and choose Run as Administrator.
When the command prompt opens, type ipconfig/flushdns and press enter.
Win10:
Press the Windows Key and X.
Click Command Prompt (Admin).
When the command prompt opens, type ipconfig/flushdns and press enter.
SInce EA seems to not give a *, let's try to solve this on our own!

  This solution still works! Bought the game from the Steam summer sale and had trouble getting it working. Looks like someone cares for Visceral's games and it certainly isn't EA.
