Can't play CO-OP with a friend

Hello.

I have a problem with Dead Space 3. I and my girlfriend can't play co-op together. We can join other people's games (via the quick match) and others can join our games but whenever we are trying to play together we get "Failed to join the game" message.

We tried:

1. "Unfriending."

2. Sniping each other through the quick play.

3. Inviting through both Origin and in-game menu.

4. Using the same resolution, refresh rate, and windowed/fullscreen mode.

I've researched some solutions online and I don't think it's a problem with port forwarding because other people were able to join our games through the quick play and we were able to join their games this way (yet we still got "Failed to join the game" even when we sniped each other using quick play).

  • Hello everyone.

A few days ago I posted a topic about being unable to play co-op with my girlfriend: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Dead-Space-Games/Can-t-play-CO-OP-with-a-friend/m-p/9136276#M15927

Since then I found a workaround that works 100% for us and these are the instructions:

    1. Make another save state while starting the game and load it instead of your main save state.

    2. Exit the game and reenter while loading your main save.

    3. You can now play together.

P.S. We didn't have to delete that new save data and make another one, but maybe try that if the method stops working for you.

  • Me and my friend bought this game recently with the specific intent of playing it through coop-style. Thinking that Dead Space franchise has so far been a quality product overall, I was hoping all would go smoothly.

No such luck. When trying to join each other's games (both of us tried to host), the game gives "Failed to join game". I've tried searching for help on this, but so far I've seen no confirmed-working solutions for this. Suggestions range from "disable your anti-virus" to "forward  ports xxx, yyy, zzz" etc. We tried lots of different combinations of these suggestions, but to no avail.

Both of us have the same issue. We're playing on PC, with a standard ADSL connection. I've played a number of different online games, and not faced this issue yet. This day and age, I'd expect these types of connection issues to be thing of the past.

Quite frankly, I feel totally ripped off. Like I said, I invested my money on your product to play with my friend, but now that seems to be money wasted. If one of the key selling points of the game was the new co-op mode, I'd expect it to work!

Is there any official workaround/fix for this issue? Is there any confirmed solution? I'd be so happy to have an answer for this.
