Can't Turn Off V-Sync In Dead Space 2

I finished downloading Dead Space 2, what I noticed was that I was getting 27.5 fps. Despite me having a really high end gaming desktop. I looked into settings and saw that V-Sync was on. I assume that was the cause of the issue. I switched it to off and as soon as I hit accept, the game crashed/screen went black. I have restarted my computer and it's the same thing every time. I even lowered the graphics settings to the lowest possible one and it still doesn't work. don't know what I should do.

Specs are: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core Processor 3.70 GHz

64.0 GB of Ramm

64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

RX 6700 XT (12 GB)

  • @4770376 DS2 has always been infamous for it's terrible frame control on PC, if VSync is on, you'll be stuck at ~30fps and if you leave it off it will go as high as your hardware can push it, which messes up a lot of in-game physics/animations - this may be your crashing issue.

Now, reading the unofficial wiki, it states that systems with 10+ CPU cores may crash on start - you may need to set the core affinity for the game to one core only. Read more about it here: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Dead_Space_2

You can also try tweaking the game settings manually by editing the settings file under this location: %LOCALAPPDATA%\EA Games\Dead Space 2\settings.txt. to change the VSync option back to on.

Sorry for the late reply, but I managed to fix it.

If I am remembering correctly here is what i did.

I first set the screen to a smaller size (like windowed I think), and then I turned of the V-Sync. It surprisingly worked for me and now the game runs really smooth.
