Dead Space 2 Black Screen (Sound working)

I am trying to play Dead Space 2 again on my PC. I downloaded the game off of steam and the first 8 Hours of gameplay were just fine. I started up my game again today and the screen stays black, sound still working..

  • Hi, @DaftyJoker

    Perhaps your laptop is using your intel onboard graphic card for the game? You can check this in your nvidia settings and set it to your nvidia card.

    @DaftyJoker

    I assume this is your machine and you have a GTX 970M video card?

    https://www.msi.com/Laptop/GE62-6QF-Apache-Pro.html#hero-specification

    I think your machine may be defaulting to your Intel video processing on your CPU rather than your GTX 970.

    1. Open the nvidia Control Panel
    2. Click Manage 3D settings
    3. Click the Program Settings tab
    4. Click the Add button
    5. Select the game from the list or click browse and navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Dead Space 2\deadspace2.exe
    6. Select Dead Space.exe and then Open
    7. Customise individual settings if you like
    8. Exit nvidia control panel and try playing.

    Try this procedure and let us know if you are able to play, thanks.

  • Yes that is my video card. I did everything, but was still unable to get the game to show anything.. Don't quite understand how the game could be working perfectly fine one day, and not work at all the next.
