Dead Space 2 Chapter 5 Necromorphs not spawning

I was playing dead space 2 and reached the first encounter of the chapter 5 boss. After you fight the boss off a necromorph child starts screeching and it and 3 others rush to attack you. Afterwards ...

I left the game going, not paused just turned down cause the screeching was getting annoying, but I left it going to see if they would spawn after a while and when I checked like 15 minutes later the door was unlocked.
