How do you disable cores im new to pc I don’t have a clue

I just beat Dead Space 1 on my pc but Dead Space 2 won’t open. It loads a black screen and then closes the application. The same issue other people seem to be having. I was hoping you may have found a solution.
My buddy and I did some massive jerry rigging and found out if you run something else such as Garry's Mod or Parsec, the game will run fine.
