So i bought the game and received the same message saying "unable to connect to ea servers", so i contacted ea support and told them about it and from what they said, i understood that the key steam gave me was invalid on origin and they added dead space 2 to my origin account with a new key, and now the steam version can be linked to origin and everything works perfectly fine.
So I also have this issue, glad I was able to find this post. Anyway it sucks if I have to contact support about this to get it fixed. Thanks everyone for the info
