Dead Space 2 won't launch from EA App

Dead Space 2 won't launch, I just keep getting the "Failed to launch game: An error on our end caused the launch to fail." error.

I've tried removing/redownloading, app recovery, even using an uninstall utility to remove deadspace 2 and all associated registry/directories.

Dead Space 3 and other library content works fine.

    Hey @SEPlusPlusRuckus

Thanks for reaching out to the community on Answers HQ!

    First, try the following...

    Delete EA License Files:

    • Make sure the EA app is closed.
    • Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time.
    • Type or copy and paste "%ProgramData%\Electronic Arts\EA Services" (without the quotes) into the new Window > ENTER
    • Delete all files within this folder

    Navigate to C:\Program Files\EA Games\Dead Space 2

run the deadspace2 file as administrator and see if it launches the game or gives the same error.

If the error continues, when you have a moment give the following a try:

    1. Run the System File Checker tool, then Check for Windows and GPU updates
    2.  Repair the game files in the EA app. Go to the Library and find your game. Click the Manage icon, then click Repair.
    3. Clear EA App's Cache (Top Left Menu > Help > App Recovery)
    4. Troubleshoot your connection to EA games
    5. Check if any background applications are stopping the EA app or your game.

Also, check the following that can sometimes cause this issue.

    - Check your machine's Date/Time is correct for your location.

    - Try disabling any VPN, or anti-cheat from another game

    - Verify you are signed into the account that owns Dead Space 2

    - Check if any Anti-virus is preventing the game from launching.

    Thanks!

  • Delete EA License Files: -Completed, no improvement, also note that the Licenses folder and contents have not been recreated even after the additional following steps were attemped, so not sure if they need to be or not.

    Navigate to C:\Program Files\EA Games\Dead Space 2

run the deadspace2 file as administrator and see if it launches the game or gives the same error. - Ran as Administrator, no improvement

If the error continues, when you have a moment give the following a try: -

    1. Run the System File Checker toolthen Check for Windows and GPU updates - Ran DISM and SFC, no improvement, Windows is up to date and Installed latest nVidia drivers, no improvement
    2.  Repair the game files in the EA app. Go to the Library and find your game. Click the Manage icon, then click Repair. - Repair completed, no improvement
    3. Clear EA App's Cache (Top Left Menu > Help > App Recovery) - App Recovery completed, no improvement
    4. Troubleshoot your connection to EA games - No issues running any other apps or games from the EA app, I don't have a VPN or 3rd party or windows firewall that might affect it.
    5. Check if any background applications are stopping the EA app or your game. - No 3rd party VPN or antivirus,

Also, check the following that can sometimes cause this issue.

    - Check your machine's Date/Time is correct for your location. - Correct and synchronized using time servers

    - Try disabling any VPN, or anti-cheat from another game - No VPN or active anti-cheat

    - Verify you are signed into the account that owns Dead Space 2 - I'm signed in as this account (SEPlusPlusRuckus)

    - Check if any Anti-virus is preventing the game from launching.  - No 3rd party Antivirus, antimalware, VPN, no weird system optimizers or anything.

Additionally, I've tried rebooting after completing the DISM and SFC, as well as after the Graphics update and after EA App Recovery.  No improvement.

One would think there should be a log somewhere that notes why the app can't launch?
