Dead space 3 CD key won't work on steam

title. I know the code is right because I copied and pasted it but it keeps coming up as invalid.

All my other origin games transferred over with no issue.

Anyone else having this issue?

  • @JFRANKSTA Thank you for confirming, by default games purchased via Origin are not platform compatible codes so you shouldn't be able to redeem them on places like Steam/Epic.

If you were able to get ME 1/2 to work I would say that is an oddity and we were lucky in getting them redeemed in steam, I have shared this with my team to let them know that some older codes are working in steam.

At this time we would have a way of changing or forcing the code to work in steam for Dead Space 3, If you were trying to get it to appear in the library to just have the Steam client open you may want to use the 'Add a non-steam game' option in your steam library.

@JFRANKSTA Is this a code you received from Origin your trying to add to Steam? (was the game purchased via Origin or Steam?), Also is the exact message that it's invalid, or what does it say?
  • its the cd key that I get when I go to game properties for dead space 3 on origin. when I copy and paste it into steam it says invalid product code. I have done the exact same thing for several other games and had it work fine (mass effect 2 and 3 recently).

@JFRANKSTA For both the ones that worked and the ones that aren't where were they purchased? (Origin, Retail Store, etc)
  • Both (ME1/2 and DS3) bought on origin.

edit: dead space 3 was bought April 18th 2016
