Is your CPU a modern one with lots of cores (above 4)? I've heard from various places that all the Dead Space games are crashing due to this. I have an i9 10900K and, despite trying Set Affinity in Task Manager as well as lowering core count using msconfig Advanced Boot options, DS 1, 2 and 3 fail to launch. Some guy from Rockstar Games on a thread on EA support allegedly had a fix for this using some modified DirectX DLL files for Dead Space 2 only but they do not work on my system. I don't know what Visceral Games is doping in its code to throw an unhandled exception on systems with lots of cores but it's all a bit amateurish considering I have plenty of other older games of that era and before that work just fine.
EA should look into this and either stop selling the Dead Space games entirely or at least add a clear and upfront change to the system requirements informing people that the game will not work on modern CPUs.
Beginning to wonder if it's all a Machiavellian attempt to make us all buy the remakes 🙂
Anyone find a solution to this?
Was working fine until 3 days ago, now won't work on either of my computers. Crashes while displaying "Please wait, checking for saved games"
