DS3 random freezing on PC

Hello. I experience random game freezes, which can only be resolved by resetting my PC as the system becomes completely inresponsive. I have logged temperature on the GPU, but only measured 65 degC which is well within spec (I have a geforce GTX 580 from Gigabyte).

Other system specs is windows 7 64 bit professionel, Intel core I7-2600k @ 3.40 ghz.

Any suggestions?

    Hi kjohnthehelt!

Okay let's see if we are able to solve this issue. This sounds like an issue with Origin aka with the cloud storage function. Please go through all following troubleshooting steps:

At first, download and install the latest version of Origin at www.origin.com/download (and make sure you have your Origin account ready as well).
Close the origin client and go directly to you origin folder  C:\Program Files\Origin Games. Run the origin.exe in this folder with a rightclick -> run as administrator.  Please add Origin.exe and Deadspace3 to the exception list of your firewall/antivirus software.

Go to your Origin -> My Games -> rightclick on DSIII and choose "Repair Install".

Get sure that the permissions of your /Origin Games folder are set to /writable.

Sometimes, this issue can be related to the cloud storage.
Open your Origin client, click on “Show Game Details”. Then you go to the cloud button on DSIII and uncheck the “enable cloud storage for all games” box. Launch the game.
If that helped, you can try to enable the cloud storage after a restart; it might work after with the cloud storage function. Make sure to use the local data when the information box popping up.

Try to deactivate your firewall/antivirus software and/or check the online ports of your connection:

    TCP: 80, 443, 9988, 20000-20100, 22990, 17502, 42127
    UDP
    : 3659, 14000-14016, 22990-23006, 25200-25300

For specific instructions on how to open your ports, please visit http://www.portforward.com/ or contact your router manufacturer.

If you running on a Windows 7 64bit system, you can try to run the Client under the Windows 7 compatibility mode. The Windows 7 compatibility mode is running as x86, and helped in a few cases to solve this issue.

Please let us now, if this problem after this workaround still exist.

    Please keep us updated!

    Hello again,

After a long time of searching for the solution to and cause of this error, I tested every component of my PC and found that it was my motherboard (Asus P8Z68-V) that was causing it. Strange, as the error only occured when the graphics adapter was getting warm, however even with a new graphics adaptor it did not solve the problem. After replacing the motherboard, I am no longer experiencing these lock-ups.

    Best regards,

    John
