Log in, and start the game from the desktop, click on the shortcut. You go into the game, go to the workbench and resources appear there
- 4 years ago@alexromanoid The link you gave leads to the new EA App for Windows (Beta) not the beta Origin app. The Steam version of this game automatically runs the Origin app, (installing it, if it's not already installed), immediately causing a conflict, and refusing to run at all, if the EA app for Windows is running. (I don't set desktop shortcuts for games that use a library platform, like Steam, and Origin/EA)
- alexromanoid4 years agoRising Rookie@jasoncollege24 Do as I write to you below.
1. Go to origin and uncheck the launch box with Windows. Exit / close origin.
2. Open Steam.
3. Create a shortcut for the game on the desktop - if you don't know how to do it, google to help.
4. Install the EA Beta https://www.ea.com/ea-app-beta this is "beta Orage", open and log in.
5. Launch the game from the game shortcut on the desktop.
6. Play!
And don't say that it doesn't work for you! Everything works! It checked not only for me.

@alexromanoidI did get it to work, after posting the video you got in the email reply, (it's not on youtube anymore), but you missed a step, for the Steam version.
To make this work with the Steam version, follow the steps below:
1. Remove EA Origin from startup, and close the app, if it's open.
2. Download the EA App for Windows Beta at https://www.ea.com/ea-app-beta install it, and login
3. Go to the game's install folder (typically C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dead Space 3), find deadspace3.exe, right-click > Send to > Desktop (As shortcut)
4. With the EA Beta running, launch the game from the newly created shortcut, and enjoy spending your ration seals.
- alexromanoid4 years agoRising Rookie@jasoncollege24 Dude, I'm glad you figured it out with my help. This is a universal instruction. So enjoy and be happy.

I'm glad that people are getting this to work. I was not happy when I couldn't use the ration seals when I first started playing the game on PC. All of those collected seals were useless. No I have my parts with the exception of Hardcore since the Restart Checkpoint option doesn't work there. I'm farming seals up to 1000 again and then just use them and collecting what the game gives me. One day I'll get all of the MK-V parts in Hardcore.

@alexromanoidHey there. I was trying your solution, but I stumbled on a small problem: my computer is still running on Windows 7 and the EA App Beta seems to require Windows 8.1 of higher. I guess I'll have to borrow a computer with Windows 10 to try again.
Edit: Tried again on Windows 10. It worked, although I had to create a desktop shortcut from the install folder, because the Steam shortcut didn't work (it tried to boot Origin).
Sorry, but the beta ea does not recognize the game, and if I open it through steam it launches the origin installer, do you know what is done in these cases?
@Stratch404Try doing the steps this way:
**Before doing the solution**, make sure to:
0. Have neither Steam, Origin nor EA Beta App running. Close them all.1. Have a computer with Windows 8.1 or higher available for the procedure. Mine is running on Windows 7, so I borrowed a computer with Windows 10 just to do it.
2. Install the game through Steam/Origin on the computer with Windows 8.1 or higher.
3. Boot the game to have all the latest save files on the computer. That should install Origin.
Only then:
1. Within Origin, go to your application settings and uncheck the option to launch on boot.
2. Exit Origin entirely (closing the window alone won't do; you have to right click on the process in the bottom right and exit).
3. Go to the install folder of Dead Space 3 then create a shortcut for the game on the desktop. Creating a shortcut through Steam or booting from Steam won't work, as it will try to boot the game through Origin.
4. Download and install the EA Beta App through this link: https://www.ea.com/ea-app-beta. In your case, you already installed it
5. Once the installation is done, boot EA Beta App and login using your Origin credentials. You are not supposed to try to boot the game through this, just let it run in the background.
6. While EA Beta App is running in background, use the shortcut you created on your desktop to launch the game. If you created a Steam shortcut, Origin will tell you that it can't boot while EA Beta App is running. If you created a desktop shortcut through the installation folder of Dead Space 3, it will boot through EA Beta App. Usually, your game is installed somewhere in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dead Space 3\deadspace3.exe
7. Load your saves. If your saves are missing, it means you didn't synchronise them using Origin yet.
8. Load a game and get to a Bench (in the Weapon Crafting Arena for example).
9. Open the DLC store. You can now spend 30 ration seals on a resource pack. Avoid pressing Enter or clicking on Purchase, or else your game will be stuck trying to load forever.
10. Once done, you can save your game, close EA Beta App, boot Origin and boot the game to synchronise your saves. Then you came resume playing normally. - 4 years ago
I did exactly all the steps you say to the letter, but I still can't get out of the bank to use the ration seals
- 4 years ago
To make this work with the Steam version, follow the steps below:
1. Remove EA Origin from startup, and close the app, if it's open.
2. Download the EA App for Windows Beta at https://www.ea.com/ea-app-beta install it, and login (This step may require Windows 8.1, or newer)
3. Go to the game's install folder (typically C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dead Space 3), find deadspace3, (or deadspace3.exe if you have file extensions on), right-click > Send to > Desktop (Create shortcut)
4. With the EA Beta running, launch the game from the newly created shortcut, and enjoy spending your ration seals.
Note: You do not have to close Steam, but you cannot use Steam to launch the game, or you will encounter an error.
- 4 years ago@Stratch404 You mean the ingame downloadable content store still shows you all the DLC with their prices, but not the ration seals?
When you open the game, do you still have access to Steam Overlay? If yes, it means it didn't boot properly through EA Beta App for some reasons. - 4 years ago@jasoncollege24 This is the only one that worked for me. Thank you so much!
- 4 years ago@Chrisdrd You're welcome.
@Stratch404 Try the solution I provided earlier in this thread, to the letter. I can confirm that it works. (Note: works the same way on non-steam versions, as long as they use Origin, when launched without this trick.)
@Clock013 The problem isn't Steam. The problem is that you cannot gain access to the ration seals at all, if you have the Origin app running.
If you care about using ration seals, always make sure that the EA Beta app is running, whenever you launch the game. Do not launch the game without the EA Beta app already running, or it may try to launch Origin.
Note that syncing the saved games using the Origin app, even after accessing ration seals with the Beta app will still not allow you to access them, without launching the game with the EA Beta app. - 4 years ago
Steam.
Ubedites', chto prilozheniye Origin zakryto i otklyucheno. Takzhe ubedites', chto beta-versiya prilozheniya EA zapushchena i vy voshli v svoyu uchetnuyu zapis' EA.

English (Original):
Russian language is fine. I'm using Google Translate to make it easier on you.I just now tested this, and it looks like my solution no longer works. Might be that they decided to remove it completely, or their related servers are down/broken.
I think the company really needs to get with it, and move the code related to spending ration seals into the local (offline) game itself. This company has such a horrible rep, when it comes to leaving unfixed bugs, and removing loved/useful features in their games, that it's a wonder they're still in business. I've stopped buying games from EA for this reason.

it gives me the access to DLC but there is no resources pack. can you help me please
- 4 years ago
So. I have the Steam version, with a few but not all of the DLC. A friend wanted to play with me, and he uses the EA Desktop app for other games and so he bought it from there.
Guess what he can see? The 30 seal pack. I tried the EA desktop app, but it can't recognize steam games, only the Origin app does- which apparently doesn't support the DLC ration seal containers. I have six bucks to throw at the problem, so I bought just the base game on the EA app- it now recognizes my game, lets me launch it from the steam folder and use all of my dlc, and now also purchase the ration packs. I guess EA just ported that DLC functionality over to the ea app without keeping it in Origin? Either way, that's how I got it to work.
EDIT: I know people don't want to spend (more) money on this, I just hope this can help people figure out a different workaround.

I have the Steam version, I also bought the Origin version like player above did, tried the EA app workaround, but ration seals did not become available even through there. Not sure what to do to get this unlocked.

Have same issue, found if i set my vpn to a US location i have ration seals, if it isnt locating me in the US i dont have the option at the bench. So anyone still playing and having this issue if your running behind a vpn then Just set it to a US location and that should work.
Attempted this recently and it throws an error stating that I do not have access. Wish someone at EA would just actually help us rather than relying on us to figure out workarounds.

I saw this announcement (https://www.ea.com/news/origin-for-mac):
"You may have seen some news about the new EA app for Windows, which will soon replace Origin as EA’s primary PC gaming destination."
Maybe this will fix our problems? I am doubtful but this may be a glimmer of hope.
I don't think his announcement has anything to do with a fix. It's just an announcement stating that those with a Mac won't currently see any change in how they access, and play EA games.
I originally bought the game on origin back in the day, but I bought it again on steam when it came out... now it seems to be impossible for me to launch it through the EA app. Even though I bought it from EA first, it seems to be permanently linked to steam, and will always start steam when I run it, even directly from the game's executable.
So of course I can't use my ration seals anymore. Man, this is *.
