[PC] Unable To Launch Dead Space (2008)

since I reinstalled my OS, the game, when turned on, first shows a black screen and a cursor indicating loading and then closes, I tried different compatibility modes and running as administrator, nothing helped.

  • I had the same problem, it just wouldn't launch no matter what. Funnily, I finally got EA to get the Windows Troubleshooter to fix it which is the first time I see that program do anything useful and it actually launches it. It set the parameters to Windows Vista Pack 2 and the minimum resolution (800x620 or something similar). Don't bother with Administrator launch, trying to get the game to launch windowed thru the EA app or in it's games folder, for me that did nothing. Try to launch it thru EA, get the Windows Troubleshooter in and follow its steps.

@duceWhat Following up with you on this one. Have you been able to launch the game? This is the original Dead Space 1 yes?

I found out that the game could not start because of the E-cores in my i9-13900L, disabling them helped solve the problem, I have a purchased copy of the game in Steam

@hrpavelx Thanks for this. Did you happen to change any of the install files so that it didn't launch in fullscreen mode or just the troubleshooter steps?
