I FIXED ERASING ALL INSIDE THIS FILE:
C:\Users\Walter\AppData\Local\EA Games\Dead Space 2
C:\Users\Walter\AppData\Local\Origin
Note: WALTER is the name of my computer, and I use window 7. (Remember close origin account and Dead space 2 before erase the files =)
That's the most idiotic thing I've ever seen posted as an "accepted" solution to this problem.
If you erase your settings and controls inside /DS2, what good does that do?
Seems to me you wouldn't be able to play the game and have to re-download it to get the missing parts. (All it Will Do is change your hotkey settings to default-duh)
If you erase files inside /Origin you lose stuff that may or may not pertain to this game. (And in the process, wipe out all of your Origin information)
Gotta be a better way to fix this.

This is getting tedious. I have restarted checkpoint, lowered difficulty level, made sure the plasma cutter is loaded up and STILL cannot fire!
Crosshairs appear and aim is there, but cannot fire!
I thought my M/K were the problem at first and they both check out fine.
Is there a DEV mode through Origin, or for DS2 that anyone knows of?
Well, hell. I tried installing a saved game to play on Zealot, went all the way to this spot and the same damn thing happens.
I'm getting so I will question buying EA games in the future and I own a lot of games.
Only a third of the way through and I got to stop playing because of this.

I had same problem and I just set control keys to default and then I was able shoot again.
And when I got trough changed keys back to my settings.
