Awakening items/skills have no names or descriptions
So I have been looking around in the forums for days and it seems I have found a new issue for this "old" game. Yaaaayy.....
Or it is an issue that everyone could fix on their own and I'm the only clueless bum that needs help. Both equally possible 🙂
Title says it all.
All the new stuff that comes with awakening, such as the new armors or new potions or all the additional skills you suddenly have, they've got no names, no description. When I got a *noname*armor equipped, the description window shows up with the stats but the name part is empty. In the inventory the Item ID is there instead of a name. And items like potions and crafting stuff have a weird-ass description like: "The origins and meaning of this thing are a mystery"
For example the stamina draught shows up in the inventory as "(gxa_im_qck_stamina_201)" and has the above mentioned description. I can still drink it and it heals my stamina. But not every item's function is so plainly obvious in the friggin item ID, is it?
The same for the new skills and specialisations. I can see the requirements, whether it's sustained, activated or passive, the stamina cost, that kinda stuff. But again no description about what it does and no name. Not even a helpful skill ID.... ☹️
Here's the tech background:
Win 7 HP 64-bit
intel core i3 M350 2.27 GHz
3GB Ram
AMD Mob Radeon HD 5145
enough memory and some more
not sure whether I should name more, doing this for the first time.
Origins plays just fine. patched to 1.05
I have the Awakening-Addon. At the beginning Awakening didn't show up in either "new game" or "other campaign". It's a known issue however and I used this thread ( social . bioware . com/forum/1/topic/58/index/5547701/1 ) to edit the AddIns.xml-file to make it show up. I can start Awakening and import a Warden from an Origin-playthrough just fine.
I also had problems with getting the DLC Stone prisoner and warden keep working. I never knew how to fix it and just jump into the middle of the quest via console. So I kinda ignored the problem?
DAUpdater service works and is on automatic.
My game is modded but I tried removing everything in the override-folder, and disabling every 3rd party mods to see whether they interfere with the addon. They don't, still no descriptions.
I know Dragon Age is worth it, but can't their stuff be less buggy and driving us gamers up the wall? Rrrr.... x(
I'm thankful for every help. 😕mileyhappy:

I fixed this problem a long while ago now.
But last time I checked this thread there were no Me toos, and it was very late and I was very tired, so I simply dropped it.
My game keeps having the weirdest problems with the DLCs so I simply assumed it was something with my pc or copy. But since there are other frustrated souls out there, here's what MIGHT fix this problem:
I'm no pc expert so I can't pinpoint the source of the problem and I can only theorize what's wrong with my game since I have no idea what's the situation with others. I read in some other thread that the problem might be playing the game in English when the pc is localized in a foreign language(like you can't change the language of the Origin store at the launcher even if you set the properities to English. So games might not be installed right) or the Dragon Age Update service doesn't work right or both. This is simple guessing, so if anyone has the real source of problems with the DLC, sharing would be very welcome
1) You should check your Dragon Age Updater service. Press the windows key + R (or click Start and then RUN) and type in services.msc. Then look for Dragon Age: Origins - Content Update. This way you can start it manually or simply set it to Automatic, so it will start... automatically... next time you launch DA. If the DAO update service isn't there at all, it's not installed right. I had THIS problem too (why there so many??? T_T) and used step3) to fix that.
2) CAN'T CONFIRM THIS MYSELF but I read patch 1.03a is the best patch compatible for awakening. I'm pretty sure you can download the old patches at the bioware site. MY attempts at patching my game kept giving me error messages, so my game stayed 1.05 and I used this instead:
3) Use the DAUServiceDiagnostic-beta. It's a tool from Bioware. You can find and download it from here: DA Update Service Diagnostic Beta. After running the tool it fixed most of my DLC problems. Sulcher Pass appeared, Levy Dryden actually appeared in my camp, etc... and of course I now knew what the **bleep** those awakening skills do. I did many things however, to somehow fix my game so I'm not 100% sure that's the ultimate solution. Maybe 85%...
Hope that'll help.
