Bioware games configuration utility runtime error

I have been searching the forums, and while i have found several similar problems, I havent been able to find anything that has been exactly like my case, or anything that has fixed the problems. The games I have installed actually run really well, and untill today I had never had any issues with them. I've had Mass Effect 2 on my computer for some time, playing it on and off again, and have used the configuration utility before to import my saves and set certain visual settings, however, since installing Dragon Age Origins the other day the configuration utility on both DA: O and ME:2 have stopped working. I can play the games and open the launcher, but if i press on configure I get a Microsoft visual c++ runtime library error saying that the application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. I am already about halfway through ME:2 and have adjusted my settings already, but this poses a problem for me with DA: O. I have tried verifying the integrity of my game cache through steam at least twice, and have tried running the launcher as administrator, all to no avail, its starting to get frustrating not being able to fix this, and would be grateful for any assistance.
