Bioware points

G'day

I want to "purchase" the High Resolution Texture Pack for DAO 2 and the DAO 1 Promotional Pack.  Both are priced as FREE on the Origin Store, however when I click "get it now", even though it then says you "need to purchase at least 0 Bioware points", it is still forcing me to purchase some.

There doesn't seem to be an option to purchase none or to skip that section.

Any thoughts?  I was just going through my EA Origin games looking for what's on offer while the sale is still on.

Thanks

It's apparently an ongoing issue for some people (including myself), unsurprising since there are 3 separate stickies at the top of the board dealing with DLC issues.

A temporary fix is to get your DLC from here, just log in with your EA/Origin account. The first thing EA support will likely ask you to do is repair the game, so if it isn't installed they might get a bit stuck on that step.

  • @Neg4tiveKD The high resolutions texture pack (and I believe the Origins promo pack) are always free, it's unrelated to the sale. Are you trying to 'buy' them through the Origin website or the client? If you've only tried one, try the other, might help.

If you hover over your game in the Origin client (in your library, not the store) and click the i button, you should be taken to the page which shows all available DLC (scroll down past the game info). The free items you're looking for should have a 'download' or 'install' button next to them, rather than a 'Buy now' button.

I've had some issues with DAO DLC as I had the game, expansion and DLC before the Origin client was a thing, so the client doesn't recognise that I own the DLC (thankfully I can still download and install it all from the old Bioware social site), it's possible you're encountering a similar issue (the game is older than Origin).

If you continue to have problems, I'd suggest contacting EA here.

Using the Origin client, when I click the i (which is what I'd already done to get to this point) over DAO it takes me to a list of all the available DLC.  The ones I'm referring to in my original message have a status of "Get it Now" (the price = Free).  All the other DLC have a status of "Download" (because I bought the collection).

Referring to my original email again, clicking "Get it Now" then forces me to purchase the DLC via Bioware Points, even though the price is free.  Having said that, the game isn't currently installed (I just wanted to have all the applicable DLC items available to download), so perhaps that is an issue....

    I will contact EA direct.

    Thanks
