Cannot install DAI from pre-owned disc?
I purchased a copy of Dragon Age Inquisition (Deluxe Edition) second-hand. The download code inside is long expired/ already used, so I cannot input it into Origin when prompted, but all four discs are included and in good condition. Is there a way to install the game from the included discs alone? I have tried downloading Origin as an administrator, uninstalling/ reinstalling Origin, and rebooting my computer.
Thank you.
Sadly, no...not really.
Here is the way Origin and the game work together.
You have a code for the game, and Origin on your computer. You input the code into Origin, and it unlocks the game on your Origin account and forever binds that code and game to your account. Having the discs can only ease the download time or bandwidth usage in some instances. So basically, on PC, once a game is unlocked on an account(ie, that DL code you have), it can't be sold as a working usable item anymore. This does two things, one it takes the place of other forms of anti-piracy and more important to EA, totally removes the secondary market for used games.
Good news, is you SHOULD be able to buy the Game of the Year edition directly from Origin, and in the US, it USUALLY runs about 10-15$ when it is on sale. I don't know about other countries, but that isn't bad for the game, and you get ALL DLC and items when you do this. Just checked on Origin(USA) and it shows a sale, with Standard about 8$, Digital Deluxe for about 7$, and GOTY for 15$........
So sorry, you basically wasted your money on the used game purchase.....
