The EA server is delivering corrupt DAZIP files.
They say they fixed this on the 4th - it doesn't take this long for DNS propagation to occur.
How many more times is this question going to arise on here from new users?
Well - if my investigation holds (which it looks like) it seems to be dadmp files pointing to a broken link for the dazip files (which is why manually installing "works", well - "works" so to speak)
And unfortunately it has nothing to do with a DNS propagation or DNS flush, despite the advice given by EA representative.
If I were to venture a guess (and well - why shouldn't I) - It might be some localization issue though where the files presented to one part of the world differs from the files given to another part of the world so Bioware/EA can use content-delivery networks (Or rather, used when the game was hot), which could explain why they haven't fixed it or don't see the issue themselves.
And if it is true (bad URI in dadmp), it should actually be very simple to fix for their developers (and yes, I dare say that on a forum 😉) It shouldn't be much other than a configuration change I suspect if the patch server is coded sensible.
So frankly - I'm growing impatient too.
The weird thing I'm finding is the .dazip files in
C:\ProgramData\BioWare\Dragon Age\DAUpdater\Data
are all totally empty. They look the right size, but if you open them in notepad++ it's just full of NUL characters. The manually downloaded files are just pkzip files.
Come on EA, pull your finger out and help us all please?
