Can't Escape Haven - Show stopping bug?
I have the Xbox One version of the game.
On a new game, I've made it to Haven and have talked to all of your party memebers or council members. I've also done all of the Haven quests that I could find after talking to all of the other NPCs in the town. I wanted to move on and visit the Hinterlands, but I am trapped and can't figure out what to do. I am loathe to start yet another game over, and this seems rather game-breaking. Unfortunately, a search of the internet didn't offer up any help.
I go to the gates where you can fast travel to the Hinterlands. As I get near it, it automatically opens up the travel menu.
I see Varric's 'red lyrium' quest to the right and can't change that quest from showing up as the primary. I select 'Hinterlands' then press A to 'Travel'
For about a quarter of a second, I see some cards flash on my screen. I guess it's a party selection screen, because I realized that the first card was labeled 'Varric'. It IMMEDIATELY passes this screen with a selection sound affect and sends me to a black loading screen. And there I sit. For five minutes. I can hear the background noise of the Haven area and realize I can still control my character. After about 5 minutes, the black screen will just go away and I can see what my character is doing in Haven again.
If I re-approach the gate from that point on, it skips the party selection screen and just goes to the black loading screen (with the icon in the corner) and I'm stuck like that until it shows my character again. It will do this every time until I restart my XBox.
I even tried this on OTHER XBox's. I had to return the one I was using for personal reasons and got a new one, installed the game, loaded my save game, and again -- same issue.
