Can't Launch Drangon Age 2 on Windows 10

I recently took adavtage of the Windows 10 free upgrade and I was re-downloading my EA games though origins. DAO and Inquisition open with no issues but when I try to open DA2 I get DA2 has stop working and was shut down.  I uninstalled it and tried again with same issue. On the third try I installed it with the disc and now I am getting stuck with the SecuROM Release date check

An error occurred during the online release date check. Click RETRY to try again.

If the error persists, please click CANCEL to abort the process and find a solution at the support website: https://support.securom.com/

My PC specs are

Intel I5

Win 10 Pro 64-bit

12.0 GB RAM

Got past the Check release date but now I am back to getting error message

    Dragon Age II

Dragon Age II has stopped working

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

It then closes the program I am not able to find any details on why it stopped working.

@senrsi Are you using the Origin version of DAII?

If not, please contact support, they should be able to update you, which should bypass the issue.

    Thanks.

I bought my Dragon Age 2 version from Amazon and it won't run for me either saying it is incompatible.

  • Really that sucks. I decided not to get the win10 update coz the orig systems as reviewed by some technicals unable to cope and will have this kinds of issues. To bioware- so the older DA cannot run on win10?? Is thete solution??

    Same happen to me...

TO EA .....IS THERE AN ANSWER YET FOR DRAGON AGE ON WINDOWS 10 OR AM i CHASING A GHOST?

  • DA2, (and DAO) play on my Win10 rig just fine.  Always have.  So the issue is something in your (non-EA) installation process, not the game itself.

My recommendation is to do the install directly from the EA/Origin client.  All you need is the Product-key, which Amazon should have provided.

[EDIT:  Do a full un-install first, if you got far enough to be able to use that feature.  You'll need to prevent any bad file references being retained.]

@ThandalNLyman yes i did an uninstall restart pc run origin put in install code and hit enter and it should DL from there on and work 🙂
  • DAII Worked fine after the upgrade but stopped working shortly after wards. Some fo the DLC was not working properly as well. Did several reinstalls and reinstalled all libraries and DirectX .
Finally traced it down to a security issue with Windows defender and Anti Virus software . Occasional DAII would work but the Virus software would kick in after aver reboot and mess up all the games. It seems to be trying to force peopel to buy their software from The Microsoft App Store
