Can't launch or Repair DAI

I went back to play Dragon Age inquisition after taking a break for a few weeks. I installed the update perfectly fine but couldn't launch the game no crash message appeared.I tried to repair it and the KB/s would start at around 400KB/s then would drop down to 0 bytes and an error message would pop up saying An unexpected error has occurred. Please try again in a few moments. Error: 196620:131086 . I tried this multiple times over the course of an hour or two. I have no mods installed only the deluxe content.

Computer Specs

Processor: AMD FX-6300 Six Core Processor    3.50 GHz

Ram: 8.00 GB

System type: 64-bit

Graphics Card: Club Amd Radeon R9 290 4GB

  • I found a solution for me at least. If you are using Avast anti virus software disable it before playing and that should fix it.

  • So I tried uninstalling it and downloading it again. it works fine until about 50MB/s when my network speed drops from 500kb/s to 0 bytes.

Here's a few things to try.
    1. Restart origin completely (perhaps there was an update you haven't gotten yet)

    2. Try opting into the Origin Beta (Origin > Application Settings > Origin Beta Participation) then restarting Origin.

    2. Restart your computer

    3. Restart your router
    4. Check to see if your firewall is blocking Origin

You can also try running Origin in safe mode (not windows, Origin has its own safe mode) under Application Settings>Advanced>Safe Mode Downloading.

  • It works thanks. But is there another way to get the game to download because i don't really want to wait 400 hours to download a 25 GB game.

The only other way is if you have retail game disks. That will allow you to install the base game and only download the patch. Unfortunately Origin is the only digital source for the download.

  • This might not work in your case, but it worked in mine.

I have a Razer keyboard and run Synapse software ... for me, it was stopping the game from launching ... but I didn't know that.  A week with EA tech support to figure that out.  If I shut down Synapse (or Razer Comms ... which I don't have) the game seems to launch just fine.  Once the game launches, I can start up Synapse and everything works fine.

It seems that for whatever reason, Synapse prevents "activation UI (32 bit).exe" from doing its thing ... but once the UI closes out, Synapse can run with the DAI executable with no issues.  I've also up channeled this to Razer as a bug.

Obviously, if you are not running Synapse or Razer Comms ... then this is not your issue ... but I hope this can help someone avoid all the wasted time I went through, getting the game to work.

  • I was able to re install it but I can't launch it. I click on the desktop shortcut and it comes up with the loading symbol next to my cursor then nothing happens. I've tried disabling origin in game, I've tried to repair and a get an error code, and have tried just about everything i could find on over 20 forum posts. I'm using a digital copies. Is there anyway to go back to a older patch.
