Cant proseed

I am on the herbalist task quest. There is 3 items to get, and I have gotten one of them.  Following the road I have run into this dalish camp/village. continui9ngn out the camp is a fork in the road. The left leads to an exit, the right to a cave. Of course there are enemies to defeat. After the fighting is done,  I found only one way out. Which is through a closed door, that has a leaver on it. I suppose that one would have to pull the leaver to open the door, but it dose not. Is this part of the game, and I missed something or is it a software foul up.
