Noticing this problem as well. There was maybe once when I was roaming storm coast did a lot of banter occured. But before and since then nothing else. Its been to quiet even for having Varric in my party.

Playing on the Playstation 3 here.
PC here, but from what I've seen the issue is across all platforms. Both old gen and new gen consoles as well as the PC.
- PC, digital download. Haven't noticed any difference between regions. Idling at the war table has more NPC interaction. :P

Hi, I'm on PS4. It appears to be spread across all five systems unfortunately. Also, I'm sure your time is precious but if you could spare a few to check out my topic on the matter at the BioWare forums (I linked it in my first post here, the third post on the first page) you may find helpful info there too. 360 or so replies and counting, many of which are now new players reporting they believe they have the bug and details surrounding their saves.
Best of luck. DAI is a lovely game but for many of us it currently feels far too soulless without much (or any) banter ever firing. - I'm on Xbox One. Thanks for looking into this!

I'm glad to hear this is a bug, I've had the issue with my PC digital deluxe edition. I seem to get banters only when I first explore an area, and never on repeat visits. I went hours without one in the Hinterlands with varied parties. Also I've gotten banters once or twice when first loading the game, and they seem to start before it finishes loading, so I'll only get the last couple lines after the load screen turns over to the game.
Xbox one physical copy, deluxe edition. Two different accounts, seems to be very low on both of them, though one is quite a bit more effected.
PC, digital deluxe edition. ☹️ I'm so super sad about this, it's making the game really lonely.
