Try to repair the game. 

(EA app: Game Library > Click on the three dots on the game cover > Repair)  
(Steam: Game Library > Right-click the game > Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of game files.)

If that doesn't work, do you own the game on the EA app or Steam? 

I've been having the same problem - Origins keeps crashing on launch. I get as far as click Resume and it crashes. It's done this before and I've had to move some save files to the desktop so it could start another one, but then I have to restart the game all over again and after a while, it crashes on launch again. 

POV: These problems didn't exist before we had to start using the EA App. Worthless POS ever.

holger1405​  Sadly, the repair didn't work.  I own the game on EA app.  Though technically, it was bought on the Origin app (that was the previous app name right? before moving to the EA app).

MsKayCeeSim52​ yeh, mine was doing a slow degrade over the last month or so... I was having to save the game before moving zones because it was crashing so often, then it just wouldn't launch the Resume game anymore.  Then I tried some of the suggested solutions and got this new problem. 

Who are they? If you mean EA Help, yes I've contacted them many times. They are no help. The only help I got one time was from someone on the forum who suggested I move the save files for the game to my desktop and let the game start a new folder. Well, that worked - the game played - but I had to start over again with a new character, class, etc. I'm not wise enough to know which file to move back into the new folder, or even if that would be wise, considering it might have been part of the original problem.

If a corrupt save game is the culprit it is very likely that one of the last saves you made is the problem. 
There is no danger to copy save games back, the game will just not start. 

But that is a rare problem in DAO. 
It is more likely that the main problem is the age of the game.

DAO is a very old game, on old x86 systems a x86 executable could only address 2GB of virtual memory.
This restriction was brought over to modern x64 bit machines if you don't make the old executable "Large address aware". 

After that the DAOrigins.exe can address 4GB of virtual memory.

With all due respect, I have no idea what you are talking about. I'm not a computer dummy; I can find my way around, however, you're getting deep into real tech territory, and that's beyond me. I want to know what I can do about it now - with my limited knowledge of the ins and outs of the technology.  

I'll try your link (I'm assuming that's "with" not "whit") and see what happens. But what is "virus total scan..."??

This is simply to demonstrate that the tool is safe to use.

Okay, I tried the tool, and nothing has changed. Maybe it's something with my computer, I don't know. I don't think so, I haven't made any changes, it just suddenly decided not to play.

I've got the Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate on EA, Steam, and my XBox One. The only one that's working is the one on my XBox. I've tried uninstalling it from EA and playing only with Steam, but it insists on using EA. Maybe if I uninstall EA and clean it completely out of my system?

Honestly, the only reason I keep EA on my computer is because I've got the Sims 4 game with 81 add-ons, and Steam won't recognize it. That's too much money to just let go.
