So glad this is being looked into! It gets so incredibly lonely without it ☹️ worst bug I've come across imo
In 50+ hours I've hit maybe 6 banters. 2-3 in the Hinterlands, 1 in the prologue (the interactive one) 1 in the Fallow Mire, 1 in Crestwood, and none anywhere else. My normal party consists of Solas/Cole/Cass, sometimes switched out Cass for Blackwall, sometimes switched out Cole for Varric but after it being so lonely I switched out for "team YOLO" (IB/Sera/Dorian) since I figured maybe they would end up talking more, and they haven't had a single one yet and it's been hours.
I ended up making a 2nd playthrough to see if that would help, and I'm still having the same issue on it. 3ish hours of the Hinterlands and I've had zero banters with my group so far.
PS4 Digital Deluxe player if that helps any.
I've got two characters that I am playing in parallel, and both have this issue to varying degrees, but one is far worse than the other. For the worse one (male, elf, mage), I've probably heard 2-3 banters in the 8-10 hours I've been playing that character. For the other one (female, elf, rogue), probably double the amount of banters, but still very sparce.
