I thought that they were just, y'know, quiet!
I've had maybe two or three banters between Varric and that elf mage bloke (about Varric's books), and maybe two (I only specifically remember Blackwall asking about converting to the Qun) between Blackwall and Iron Bull.
I had actually noticed it and thought that what with the changes like the much less responsive conversation system, the lack of choice in general and so on, it had been just another casualty, until I saw a BW person mention it offhand in a post abotu the various OTHER issues, and I was like "Wait, WHAT?"
