can anyone please help me get rid of this 90%-96% CPU usage with spikes to 100 % and lag the whole game issue?
its so annoying
specs:
WIN 7 64bit
Msi gtx 970
intel i5 3570k
16gb ram
thanks in advance.

DAI generally uses between 60-90% of the CPUs power.....so if you have any background process running that is taking up CPU, you very easily get 100% and lag when the CPU tries to do everything at once. Go onto Microsoft's site and Download Process explorer which will show you what is running and generally what it is linked to. That way you can find out what is actually using your CPU, because to run the game, you will need up to 90-95% of your cpu available for it.
i close everything even in services i close intel related stuff
but its still 95% at all time with those spikes to 100%
how come nobody addressed it so far...
And you had process explorer running while playing and it showed DAI at 90%+ at all times?? With IT spiking to 100% and lagging while playing?? Mine very rarely hits 100% usually when loading and only then for a few seconds, most times on loading screens and in game it reads between 60-90% depending on what is going on?? So what does the Process Explorer show for your system??
i use msi afterburner to monitor while playing
showing GPU usage and CPU usage
GPU AT LIKE 90%+ , 3500 / 2500ish
CPU(intel i5 3570k)
CPU1:96% CPU2:90% CPU3:94% CPU4:93%
when at random times it will spike to 100% for a split second and lagg the whole game
again nothing is open ts3,chrome,mediaplayer,steam etc.... only origin and the game itself.
now the proccess explorer.exe uses about 60k~80k of memory(private working set)
if this is what you asked
Problem is, Afterburner only shows total CPU use, and not what is using it. The stock task monitor usually only shows what is being used by the logged in user and doesn't include other users and some system processes that are basically hidden. The Process Explorer from Microsoft will show you exactly what is using your CPU and thus you can actually find out if the GAME is the issue or some unknown BACKGROUND PROCESS.
I have also this problem since patch 2,I don't know now if it was fix with the latest patch or not cause I didn't touch the game since last year, was unplayable. But the issue its from the game, not from your side,I have similar specs(my CPU is I4690,in rest is the same),while the game was running fine the first time, since patch 2 everything is f.u.c.k.e.d up.I was so pissed that I couldn't play the game that I downloaded from the internet the first version of the game that was working and never updated it,cause from Origin you always get the last version. But I guess if you have this problem now I presume you have the latest patch,so that means they didn't fix it,its a error in the coding of the game,it was a thread explaining this kind of problem
You should try disabling Origin in-game and see if it helps. I'm mesmerized on how even an i5-4690k can cause bottlenecks in this game and that an i7 is REQUIRED to run this game without bottlenecking.😕mileyindifferent:
i did dude its * unbelieveable
why make any game this cpu heavy is beyond me
This is what I posted in another thread that turned up an issue with a background process....and why I wanted you to run process explorer and watch the real numbers for CPU by DA:I and other processes.
The CPU at 98-100% is what I am a bit concerned about. and it MAY be related to the 20-30% when Idle. The game needs between 60-90% of your CPU to run smoothly, and thus if you have anything taking up from 10-30% CPU power, then the game will lag, run slow and basically be unplayable. So you should have a list of Process on the left of Process explorer, then CPU in next column, then Private bytes, working set, PID, Description and finally Company name.
What you are looking for is anything that is using CPU when running DAI...so click on CPU so it lists programs/processes by descending CPU use..
So if you are running DAI it should basically look like this...
Dragon Age Inquisition... 80.99 whatever memory whatever memory etc etc Bioware/EA
System Idle.... 15.00 0k 0k 0 blank blank------------system idle is just what isn't being used
and on down the list....
The problem will show up if you see something like
System(or really anything other than system Idle) 15.00 etc etc etc
Which would mean you have something with Windows or related components using 15% of your CPU when you are trying to play DAI... If you are getting 2-5% you will probably be ok, but you don't want to see one topping 10% by any means when trying to play...
I have read somewhere that Intel has a page filing process used with SSds that has a habit of doing this...is supposed to be used when drives are used in RAID if I am remembering correctly, and thus can be disabled to free up processor power...can't find the thread on here that mentions the process and how to disable it.
So if you ignore this advice another time, then I will leave you alone because you obviously don't want my help, and I am wasting both our times.
I've had this problem ever since the game was released, and I still have this problem. I'm disappointed in the devs, this game was released on November 18 2014, now it's February 2015 and they still haven't been able to fix a simple problem that makes this game unplayable.
There is a thread about poor performance, lag etc.. It has 68 pages, yet there are no patches that say anything about performance. This shows that the company doesn't give a * about it's customers.
As for the 100% CPU usage thing, I believe I know what causes it.. I can see enemies from one side of the map to the other side of the map. This means this game has a stupidly high draw distance. Give us a option to reduce draw distance, boom. High performance increase.
