None of the solutions referred too, worked for me. I did, however, solve my problem with a little patch called 4GB patch.
I run various MODS included texture mods. I run windows 10 with AMD cards in crossfire.
After various crashes and a total crash after entering Denerim I could not even load the game anymore. Since the patch, smooth sailing and no more hiccups let alone crashes with the save that initially would not load anymore.

I'm sorry - I've been through tech support, removed cashes, got rid of firewalls and virus protections, run no mods... I've read this downloaded the 4gb thing, and have zero idea what file to choose...
Can someone give me a "how to" on a game with no mods? In "doesn't have a clue" speak?

@AriKam: The game works fine under WinXP. The game works fine under Win7. The game works fine under Win10. So, the issues you're having are specific to your rig. Please provide a DXdiag report. Help us help you.
I can't thank you enough man! not only it fixed the crashes but it fixed a bug in textures as well!
25 Aug 2018 - Ran across the CtD at Denerim. This tiny little patch so far seems to have fixed it. Was even able to load the last save just before I walked out a closed door to the market place that would constantly crash before. No mods installed (but may look into them as they look interesting lol). So thanks for finding a patch for this.

After running this Origins just refused to start for me. Didn't even get the loading splash image before the opening screens, just... nothing. Am I missing something?
@Checkerbeard; You don't day what "this" is that you ran, but presuming you mean the 4GB hak... If the game won't start you did something wrong.
Your welcome. But really the thanks should go to the maker of that little patch and Bioware should have implemented that themselves in an update years ago.
At least now one can go mad again with installing various mods and enjoying a game made in Bioware more prime years and remeniss what they
were capable off.
That 4gb patch is a lifesaver! Played my way through every places except for Denerim. Got tthere, saved and exit. Can't load my save! Now it works!
I've had this issue for years, constant crashes and corruption of save files around Denermin, this worked perfectly. Thank you very much.
