DA2 - Act 3 resistance bug

I've been playing through the Dragon Age series lately, and I've really been liking it so far.

I loved Origins, Awakening (except for Anders) and 2 (except for Anders).

However, as soon as I get to act 3, my game becomes unplayable. Enemies become fully immortal, resisting any damage dealt by Hawke, including basic strikes and abilities. As a result, combat becomes ... difficult.

I know it's been years since anyone played DA2, but I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could help me out.

Do you use any Mods?

If you are on a PC try to repair the game.

(Origin: Game Library > Right-click the game cover > Repair)

(EA app: My Collection > Click on the three dots on the game cover > Repair)
(Steam: Game Library > Right-click the game > Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of game files.)
