DAI freezing on a white screen after ending a specific cinematic

Hello, I'm a little confused about this since I know nothing of coding or computer science in general so I'm hoping that I can get some assistance.

Playing through the game, I reached the end of In Your Heart Shall Burn with the slew of cinematic cutscenes happening with your PC in the camp. When I reach the end of the one where you talk to Solas about the Anchor and whatnot and tries to move to you discovering the new nexus, the game will then stop on a white screen where I can control my character but not see then, with me not being able to move at all and not being able to change the screen; I'm sure of this only because when I close the game, for a second I can see my character standing beside the blue torch where you talk to Solas, and when I try to attack I can hear my weapon clanging against the metal torch.

I tried doing the simple things of reloading the game, then reloading the Origin client but neither of those things worked, so I tried clicking "Repair" in the setting outside of the game but that also didn't work at all. I'm not sure what to do at all really and I can't find anyone really saying that they're having the same specific issue. Please help!

  • Most often this is caused by a mod conflict....

If you aren't running mods, then a DxDiag may help us figure out what is going on.  Also turning down the graphics to low has also been reported to help some crashing on DAI.

If you are running mods, then search White Screen at Solas Revelation/finding Skyhold and it should bring up a known repair for it.  Nexus forum if you choose that one the updated fix is on page 7.

@mcsupersport If it's caused mods, the easiest way is to remove the mod folder temporarily, increase the version number in package.mft in the patch folder (so the save can be loaded), get through the cutscenes, save, quit game, revert the package.mft version number, put the mod folder back, continue your game. If you're using any mods, it's a good idea to do this for every playthrough at that point, as there are so many cutscenes etc. that you have to redo if you get the white screen issue. (Why yes, I did grow to *hate* that song 😛 ).

  • Side note:  You don't have to "revert" the MFT number.  As long it's the same or higher than the one recorded in your save, the game will load the save just fine.
