DA:I will not launch

I finally finished playing Dragon Age 2 and when I went to play Inquisition, it never launched. I've never played the game once. I go into Origins, I hit the orange "play" button and it minimizes Oirgins, looks like it's launching, but then just refreshes Origins. I have no idea why, or what is causing this.

  • The most likely cause of this is your Anti-virus, especially if it is AVG or Avast.  If it is either of those, then put in exclusions/exceptions for Origin, DAI, and the saves folder for DAI.  You can usually do a quick disable of your Anti-virus to check to see if it allows the game to start, but on occasion, I have had people tell me they had to do both the disable and exclusions to get the game to work.  There are a few other programs that also cause issues starting, such as Discord, Razor customization program, Steel customization program and teamspeak program.

If none of these things help, then we will need a DxDiag file to have any hope of helping you further, because as it currently stands, we have no data on your system and possible conflicts in it.

The thing is, I can play DA: Origins and DA2 just fine, so why would my anti virus do that? It doesn't seem to be affecting the other games, or any other games I have on Origin, at all.

Thanks, it worked! Funny how the other games were ok, but my AV didn't like DAI 🙂

You can't really compare DAI with DA:O or DA:2, they're completely different games on completely different engines, the only relation they have to each other is story (which is why we have the keep now instead of save imports, the engines aren't compatible).
