DA:O characters not syncing to Keep!?

Naturally I have been trying to retrieve all my data from the previous DA games to carry over into my DA:I playthrough. However when the data synched none of my DA Origins characters were included. The odd thing is my DA2 characters synced up fine.

So I tried a few experiments. I fired up my 360 and put in DA Origins in the hopes that signing into the EA severs in the DA Origins menu would fix the syncing issue. However the game would refuse to connect to the EA servers. Since that didnt work I then checked my Bioware Social profile and found that I had negleted to actually register my copy of DA Origins when I got it on release. I did however register my DA2 which maybe is why my DA2 characters synced up fine but my DA Origins characters did not.

I then registred my copy of DA Origins to hopefully access my character data, only for it to then say "Invalid persona/game combination" So now I am stuck and have no clue how to resolve this issue and get my characters on to the Keep.

If anyone has any advice/suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

  • Oh ok thanks, I'll try looking for a link to fill out a ticket, is it on the forum?

    *UPDATE*

Ah Nevermind I think I found it. I basically went to this link: http://help.ea.com/en/contact-us/

And then set up a new case to chat with a live EA agent. They have now escalated my case so hopefully all will be resolved soon. I will update this post again if it all get fixed and I get all my characters synced up.

    **UPDATE**

So after waiting about four days and no response from EA about my case, I decided to open up a dialogue with another EA Help live agent "Help" being the opperative word here....

The purpose of the discussion was merely to get an update on my case and find out if my case was indeed escalated, since I had heard nothing from EA's end since. However the agent evaded my question and proceeded to run me through typical basic checks, like was I signed into The Keep with the correct account and such.

However it became clear the agent was reading from a guide they had on the computer screen as they seemed to possess no knowledge of how The Keep or even how the Origin account system worked. Asking me to do such things as add my console ID as a friend to The Keep and share my world data with myself to fix the issue (which is impossible since all EA gamertags across all platforms get linked to one Origin master account).... Since I knew all this was pointless I evaded the agents pointless questioning and cut to the chase by saying my case was already supposed to have been escalated and I just wanted to check if that was the case. The agent replied by saying this was the case and I should wait from a response from the EA specialist team.

It has been about two further days since then and the EA team have not attempted to contact me in any way. However on a whim I decided to fire up DA: Origins on my 360 again to see if I could finally connect to the servers, which I did. I then chose to start up a new playthough on one of the DLC packs I neglected to complete. I completed the DLC pack (Witch Hunt) since it's pretty short and then fired up The Keep again to find all my data was synced correctly and I could now add my custom warden to the tapestry!

I have no clue if EA played any part in me abing able to connect to the DA: Origin servers at last or whether it was just all me. Either way I find EA Helps customer relations lacking and they need to address this. I was left in the dark about my own case for too long and unable to play the game for almost a week. Only to then fix it for myself it seems!....

I'm in a similar position, however my keep DID sync 4 custom heroes-- 3 of which were characters I deleted over a year ago, none of which are characters I had completed the game with. I didn't have either DAO or DA2 registered on bioware's site, but I have since done so, but I cannot check the data due to the same " Invalid persona/game combination" error.

Have fired up my 360 and DAO and loaded and resaved those wardens I want to transfer in, so at this point I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping they're magically in there by tomorrow.

My DA2 characters have all imported fine.

So any solutions I would love to hear as well, as something that works for one of us is likely to help us both. I'd very much like to get started on DAI-- but I'm not going to until I can bring my legacy along with me.

  • If you poke around, there's a link that says 'if your stuff isn't syncing properly - fill out a ticket here'

After I did that, a few days later everything was updated.

Found out the reason for this and frankly it's annoying.  Screenshots are really the issue.  You can solve it by going in to the old bioware forum.

    1.  Go to the old forum site:  http://social.bioware.com/language.php?return_url=%2F1070914%2F

    2.  Log in to your profile.  Then go to my games-player profiles

    3. Click Dragon Age: Origins then hit Profile Diagnostics

    4.  Now it should look exactly the same as mine did.  You should have 50 files and less than 10 megs of space used.

    5.  Check any and all screenshots and/or characters you want to get rid of and delete them.

    6.   After that DA: Origins should update normally.  You might need to go in to your character and force an update by saving.  At any rate you can upload up to 12 different characters due to the 50 file max limitation.

Neither screenshots nor the world info take up that much space.  I was using 5 1/2 megs of space and was maxed on files.  Now I am using 36 files for just world info and am sitting at about 1 1/2 megs out of 100 megs used.  So Is there any chance that at least the file limitation can be removed?  It seems to be causing a lot of issues.
