DAO Error Initializing PhysX.

Hey guys, whenever I launch DAO from steam it gives me an error saying Error Initializing PhysX and tells me to go to a website that (as far as I can tell) is now defunct. I've looked at previous posts about this issue on steam and answers HQ but mostly they just say to update your drivers, which hasn't worked for me because it says they're already up to date. I'm looking for some answers on how to get around this problem and I'm hoping, since it seems like it's not an uncommon problem, you all will have some answers. Thanks!

    Hey @Scourgeoforder, 

    That error usually means that NVIDIA PhysX isn't installed. The game needs this in order to run, so it will run into errors if it can't find it. You should be able to download it directly from the NVIDIA website.

    I downloaded PhysX from the Nvidia website, but to no avail. It still doesn't show it in the file.

    What is the error you've been seeing when you're trying to play? Can you share the full error message here?

    EA_Kent I am experiencing the same issue. I get a pop that states "Error initializing PhysX. Please visit http://www.nvidia.com/physx for updates."

    The link itself is dead, but I was able to find the files on the Nvidia website. However, PhysX has been installed on this laptop - the version I am running is 9.09.0428.

    Hey @kendry1, 


    It looks like the NVIDIA website has been reorganized a bit, and I'm having trouble finding the main page for PhysX. I did some digging, and from what I can see this looks like 9.19.0218 might be the most recent version. Can you try downloading it from this page to see if that helps?

    @EA_Kent , not sure why PhysX would not update with the rest of the NVIDIA drivers, but I will certainly give it a try and let you know.

    @EA_Kent and that did not work. But.  I just checked control panel and it seems that I have both 9.09.0428 and 09.19.0218 showing as installed.  I'm going to uninstall the older version and see what happens.

    And now I have a different problem, but still related to PhysX. I am now getting the following error when I try to start the game:

     " Invalid license. Reason code=Missing DLL:{NxCharacter.dll} Error: 0x7E."

    I will try to uninstall and reinstall the current version.

    uninstall and reinstall seemed to have fixed the issue. I now have a different one, but will start a new thread since it is unrelated to this problem.  thanks.
