DA:O have all DLC; cannot acquire control rod from Felix (no EA server)

Hi folks, I have the PC Ultimate Edition Dragon Age: Origins.

All DLC shows up fine in the game (Main Menu > Downloadable content.)

! can get to Sulcher's Pass, but when I converse with Felix the option to get the rod says "(Download Content) Let's take a look."

That's strange because I have definitely downloaded the content!

Of course when I select that dialog option I get the dreaded "The EA servers are no longer available" message.

So is this permanently broken?  Can I simply not use that DLC?  Or is there a way to get the game to acknowledge that I *do* own the DLC?

Thanks in advance to anyone who might have some insight.

Thank you so much for your kind reply! I rooted around the forums and found a few steps that solved my problem; hopefully this will work for others as well.

My issue was that I had originally purchased the Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition through Steam but they show up in the EA launcher. That meant that the DLC files were in the wrong place. Here is the full procedure for PC.

We're going to delete and reinstall all of the addin folders. Please make sure the EA Launcher is not running.

    I. DELETING THE ADDINS

    1. Navigate to C:\Program Files\EA Games\Dragon Age\addins. (You can find this whole procedure online at https://answers.ea.com/t5/Other-Dragon-Age-Games/PC-Dragon-Age-quot-Unauthorized-DLC-quot-Error-After-Launch/m-p/13221735#M25733 but I will repeat them here. I do NOT recommend the step of using CCleaner.
    2. Delete all the folders within C:\Program Files\EA Games\Dragon Age\addins. Those folders contain all your DLC content.
    3. Now restart Windows.

II. DOWNLOADING AND REINSTALLING THE ADDINS

    1. Go to https://help.ea.com/en/help/faq/dlc-for-classic-games/?isIhi=true
    2. Scoll down to Dragon Age: Origins
    3. Download the files. (I like to download stuff driectly to my destop, but by default they will be in your Downloads folder).

    DAO_Darkspawn.exe
    DAO_GolemsOfAmgarrak.exe
    DAO_LelianasSong.exe
    DAO_WardensKeep.exe
    DAO_WitchHunt.exe

Those are the five .exe installers; you only need to click on those to run them.

    4. Beside the aforementioned .exe files you will find a number of files with the extention .dazip.

    DAO_PRC_CP_1_1.1.dazip
    DAO_PRC_CP_1_1.1.dazip
    DAO_PRC_CP_3_1.0🏈.dazip
    DAO_PRC_CP_3_1.0.dazip
    DAO_PRC_CP_7_1.0⚽.dazip
    DAO_PRC_CP_7_1.0.dazip

To install these, you need to navigate to C:\Program Files\EA Games\Dragon Age\__Installer and run SetupAddins.exe.

Choose each of the .dazip files one by one and install all of them. These files will be installed in your C:\Users\yourusername\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\AddIns folder where they belong..

III. COPY THE ADDINS.XML FILE TO THE CORRECT LOCATION

IMPORTANT! You next need to copy the file addons.xml from C:\Program Files\EA Games\Dragon Age\__Installer and paste it in your documents folder. Otherwise the launcher will not know the content is yours.

The easiest way is to open a fresh instance of File Explorer and click "Documents" then navigate to BioWare > Settings and paste the addons.xml file there. Or you can navigate directly to C:\Users\yourusename\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\Settings and paste the addons.xml there.

Restart Windows, open the EA launcher, choose Dragon Age and Manage > Repair. Then run the game and your DLC should be working.

The DLC should work regardless of the Server error massage.

If you are on a PC try to repair the game:

(Origin: Game Library > Right-click the game cover > Repair)
(EA app: My Collection > Click on the three dots on the game cover > Repair)
(Steam: Game Library > Right-click the game > Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of game files.)

Also try to clear your EA app cache.

Hey, @qstrupture Happy those worked out for you! I am always looking to update some troubleshooting steps for players so I am glad this worked out for you!

Also, for the error message on the servers: It's not broken. It is hard-coded into the game from release since it went to the social.bioware.com site. This site no longer exists so the login goes nowhere. They would have to recode the entire game to get it removed.

    Cheers!
