Hello, though id just throw this in.
I had a bunt of DX errors and driver crashes and solved most of them by cleaning my PC out of all dust. "Frostbite sensative to System instabillity?" Along with a complete clean reinstall of all my ATI drivers. I know for a fact that my GPU is now defective so im lucky im able to run anything intensive, I solved most load screen crashes by simply declocking my GPU to 600 from the default of 850Mhz, so there is less load on the card.
Unfortunatly this means I have to run on the lowest settings with 1600x900 but the game has not crashed outside of character creation for two hours.

I'm having the exact same problem on my Win7 64-bit machine, with an AMD HD 6800. For me it happens when switching to a different view, such as a conversation or looking through an occulus, etc. Sometimes the game runs good for 3-4 hours and sometimes only 15 min.

From EA help chat
For some reason, running Inquisition in window mode can magically solve the black screen bug, allowing players to normally run the game. To make your Inquisition go into window mode, you must click ALT+ENTER, upon the BioWare logo display. Keep spamming these two keys until the game obeys your command.

I'm getting this problem, too. Workarounds aren't helping. If anything, getting worse.
GeForce GTX 650 Ti BOOST
GeForce 340.52 Driver
64-bit Windows 7
Edit: Upgraded to driver 344.70. Didn't help. Read in another thread to downgrade to 344.65. Still no help. Running in windowed mode DOES get rid of the DirectX error but now I get a white screen with a driver crash message.

I was having this problem over and over with my GTX 680, but yesterday I managed to have it stable for about 9 hours. I turned all the settings in game to medium, turned off ambient occlusion and all tesselation options, turned off origin in-game, and set the display to windowed borderless. I also had EVGA precision X on with a -70 gpu glock offset and my fan turned up to %85.
Sure the game doesn't look as good now, but it's stable and never crashes anymore. I hope this helps someone.

I got the same problem but only on "the hinterlands" during the main quest where you have to save the people of a small village. I am running geforce 660 TI SLI
- Anonymous11 years agoNot applicableRuns on medium/high settings on a single 755GT without issue but takes minutes to load if I turn SLI on, seems to give no real advance in performance and crashes as described. Still, turning sli off does make a big difference.

Same thing happening to me. Problem is, it looks like crossfire doesn't work windowed. Tried all of the above.

Getting this as well after every ~5-10 minutes of play, triggering at cut scenes w/ Geforce GTX 765M. A shame as game runs fine except for this making it unplayable. Happened as well after turning AO and Origin in-game off.
Also crash erased my character customization once because game didn't save it immediately after I had spent half an hour completing it, bleh... My Gillian Anderson elf is no more ☹️
