Does disabling origin overlay disable achievements all together?

As the title says, i am wondering if achievements gets disabled when you turn off origin overlay? Because i hear that disabling the overlay removes the stutter when you move the camera around. I have a constant fps of 50+, but still the camera stutters when i move it around. Any other solutions besides turning overlay off?

If you restart with a Clean Boot that may help with the overlay issue.

We disable Origin because it can have issues with other programs, usually other overlays. Disabling these other overlays may help.

  • Removing the commandlines for the cutscene fix has removed the stuttering when moving the camera around. But seriously, they need to fix the cutscenes so its not limited to 30 fps...

  • EA David... what other overlays? Please give an example, because the only other program similar to Origin that I run is Steam.

I have never had this problem with Steam and I never run both at the same time. Please define what you mean by "overlay". Because the last several Origin updates have been useless. I have had OiG disabled since the week before DA:I released, when the buggy beta Origin client was released to production in two days flat.

Now I cant use OiG at all, and half my friends I cant send messages to because Origin claims they are on the beta client in an auto response, but they have it unchecked in settings. Then you have to uninstall Origin and clean it out of the registry like a virus and try reinstalling. It works until the next time Origin burps, but not OiG, just messages.

I am so tired of EAs lack of support and shoddy client. Now DAI is riddled with bugs and there is zero sign that any of them are being worked on. It has been a very annoying thing being an EA customer of late.

BioWare has stated two more patches are currently under development.

"Overlay" can also refer to something like Fraps, for instance.

  • No, no FRAPS, NVidia Shadow Play, Twitch, gamestreaming, or any other capturing software. I run Origin client on two different systems, an Alienware laptop and a custom tower PC. The only thing they share is the OS version and the video card driver version - hardware is all different, A/V and keyboard/mouse drivers all different. The problem happens with both of them, and I have the client disabled on both of them.

I didn't know about the patches - you certainly never read it in the threads about the multiple problems (until now). Do you have a link to the site/thread where that's discussed?

    Thanks in advance.

Unless I missed it nobody answered that first question so I'll point out that achievements still work. I disabled Origin in-game but I still even got the achievement pop-up messages and after two play throughs I have all of them. If you didn't get an achievement that you believe you should have there could be a bug. For some reason I didn't get the achievement related to killing 10 high dragons my first time but I did get it after killing my first two dragons in my second game (I assume all the dragons are what they call "high dragons" but maybe not, or it was a bug).

I don't get a popup, but I hear the achievement sound.

One of my achievements (the 10 agents one) doesn't trigger, but that's probably a bug.
