Door Opening Glitch - Redcliffe Castle

The Issue:

I am in the questline called "In Hushed Whispers."  There is a door that I believe should open which doesn't.  The door is in future redcliffe castle, in the room with the first rift battle after rescuing Liliana from the torture chamber.  It is supposed to be opened by turning a gear.  When I right click the gear, my character goes through the animation of turning, but nothing happens.  This is my first playthrough of the game.  I checked several online walkthoughs to determine that I wasn't missing anything before I decided that it was a glitch.

Support History:

I have had two chat conversations with EA support so far.  The first one (case number is 25521715) recommended that I uninstall the game and origin, run a cleaner, and reinstall origin and the game.  I did that and the problem still persists.

The second chat (case number is 25522721) recommended that I post my issue here.  And that I try reloading my game from an earlier save and playing through to the same point.  I did that at least twice before the reinstall, and am about to make my first attempt post-reinstall.  I'll let you know how that goes.

Specs:

I am a PC user.  My DxDiag can be found at the following link:  http://hastebin.com/adukosapos.tex

You need to HOLD the mouse button down until the gear finishes turning, not just click on it.

  • OK.  I just finished my first attempt at starting from an earlier save, and the problem still exists.  At some point I might try again from an even earlier save, but I have other things I need to do today.

    wow. just. wow.

    and Thank You!

On the one hand I feel stupid for not trying that.  On the other hand I'm kind of angry that none of the walkthroughs I looked at mentioned it.  I'm having a hard time coming up with another point in any of the dragon age games where we're supposed to interact with objects by holding instead of clicking.

    but again, thank you.

I don't recall seeing it in any other Dragon Age Game but, there are a few of them in DAI. Not all of them wheels like that door.

Just watch for that circle to pop up at the interaction point and, then you know you have to hold it until that circle fills
