Hmmmmm... That technique works for me. 😕mileysurprised:
The alternative is to create a desktop shortcut to the following "target" (include the quotation marks around the full path/file):
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Dragon Age II\bin_ship\DragonAge2.exe" -enabledeveloperconsole
Forgot to mention; it's a Mac. Not sure if that's why this thing is giving me fits lol. Thanks.

I have the same problem!! Freakishly annoying, and because I am also a Mac user, it doesn't work with the other options (to simply apply "-enabledeveloperconsole" in the Target name of the game)....
