Dragon Age Inquisition Crashes on the fallow mire, while fighting (PC)

My game was working fine (no creashes on the hinterlands or the stormcoast) until i reached the fallow mire, the game keeps crashing to desktop with no error messages apparently only while im fighting monsters or trying to hunt something, anyone else has this problem? what im supposed to do?, all my drivers are up to date and it only started crashing after entering the falow mire ☹️

PS: i disabled origins overlay, turned the game to window mode (no borders) and tryed a few more things but the proble persist.

AMD FX-6300 Vishera 6-Core 3.5GHz

AMD Radeon Hd 7770 1gb Ddr5

8GB RAM

  • What graphics options are you running? The AMD 7770 is approximately equal to an Nvidia 460, which I updated from last year for this game. This level of card is going to have a hard time running over medium settings, so it is possible all the water (reflections) in the fallow mire may be overloading the card. Even my updated card chugs in Redcliffe where there is lots of water and particle effects.

As posted by DarkAmaranth1966 in another thread:

Try this, it will allow you to turn Dynamic Vsync on. Also turn Post Processing effects to Low in the Game options. Dynamic Vsync is similar to Nvidia's adaptive Vsyc and, that has helped others solve crashing issues. (And Radeon Pro offers some other cool features for games too.)

Im running with almost everything in low (except for textures in medium), il try the dynamic Vsync and see what happens.

Okay i got RadeonPro installed and applied the Dynamic VSync configuration in the game (wasn't hard since i have everything in low, i only had to tweak the Vsyncand turn it ON), the first test was quite satisfactory (running around for 10 minutes doing everything that made the game crash before, using many skills in sequence like firewall and inmolation, fighting many undead at the same time or many bogfishers) and the game did not crash, il keep doing more test and updating the post.

PS: If i have radeonpro open and execute DAI from origins, radeonpro still applies the configuration on the game?

Okay after more testing (more fighting, walking around killing bogfishers and goin to the last fadefire stone fighting the horde of undead that comes at you) the game doesn't crash anymore, for now this problem can be considered solved, many tnx to MyMilyn and  DarkAmaranth1966 (hoping It's  a FFIX reference ^^) for the information.

I'm glad our suggestions got the game working again for you. 🙂

  • I'm experiencing the same problem but on Xbox 0ne. Any suggestions since modding isn't as much of an option?
  • Turning off V-sync in the game and two places in AMD Setting did not work for me. What did work was disabling most of my mods except "No More Fog of War" and "Configurable Increased Inventory Capacity". I have never had a problem with V-sink, so I turned it back on. The game still functioned correctly. I have too many mods to try to determine which one is causing this.
