Dragon Age: Inquisition does not launch on Windows 10

I just installed Inquisition (GOTY edition), but it refuses to open. It doesn't even show a prompt, outside of Windows asking me for permission to run it. The only way I can end it is by entering into Task Manager and ending the "activation UI" task running in the background. I have attempted to add exceptions for all possible folders related to Origin and DA:I on both Avast and AVG, but to my dismay, they did not work either. I uninstalled both of them, tried the same for Windows Defender, and it didn't work either. I also attempted to disable the in - game Origin overlay within Origin for DA:I, but it still did not work. I currently have no antivirus installed besides Windows Defender (for which the exceptions are enabled). No error messages pop up when I try to open Origin or DA:I, and Mass Effect 3 also works fine (although I uninstalled it after encountering this problem).

I am running a dual monitor PC build running an Intel Core i7 - 7700k, a GTX 1080, etc. Origin is installed on my C: drive, which is an SSD where my games are stored as well. I have a D: drove which is a standard SATA 2.5 drive, although I don't use it frequently. All drivers appear to be up to date, and I am running Windows 10 with the Creator's Update applied (hopefully that isn't the problem). Thanks for any help! My DxDiag is attached. https://hastebin.com/uwuyimiduv.tex

@ThiccV2 The game has been known to have issues with Razer products/software in the past. Have you tried disabling any Razer software, see if that makes any difference? Not hopeful that'll magically fix your problem, but doesn't hurt to try. 😛

  • I have had issues with other EA games like this. I don't own Inquisition on PC, so I can't help much with direct knowledge with DA:I.

But the other games I've had trouble with have just launched into the background; so they've booted and are noted as running, I just can't get at them to play them.

To fix this I have dug into the game files and just directly launched the .exe for the game instead of going through Origin.

    Hope this helps.

  • The dxdiag shows Intel integrated graphics as the primary display adapter. Make sure you're running the game on the dedicated Nvidia GPU.

Laptops tend to switch to integrated graphics to preserve energy, and EA games don't always automatically switch back to the Nvidia GPU. There's an option in the Nvidia control panel (under 'manage 3D settings') to force the game to use the dedicated GPU. If you're on a desktop instead of a laptop, make sure the monitor is plugged into the graphics card instead of the motherboard.

Launching other games from Origin works for me. Mass Effect 3 works like a gem, with no visible problems at maximum graphics. I've only been experiencing this problem with DA:I, and I have tried launching the game from the executable (it didn't work before, but I will try it now, seeing as I just reinstalled the game).

Also, I wasn't aware of the graphics issue. I have always been able to run Overwatch at ultra with 60fps, so I never thought it could be my GPU. I will also try this.

It appears that I have no option to switch my graphics processor in my NVIDIA panel. The monitor which I will be using to play DA:I is by default connected into the graphics unit, and not the motherboard, so I do not get any option to force a GPU onto DA:I. As for running the game from the direct executable, that did not work as well. I also attempted to connect my secondary monitor into the GPU as well to check if that would make any difference, but it has not. I will attach an updated DxDiag in case (I'm not fully familiar with them): https://hastebin.com/poditasido.tex

I have attempted everything listed so far, to no avail. Any other solutions?

This actually worked! I never realized that Razer programs, of all things, would be causing the problem. Thank you all for your help!
