DRagon age Inquisition: Getting VC++ runtime redistributable package error

I keep seeing lots of different threads, but they're not saying specifically the same as mine. Less vague is the number after my error

Error: The VC++ runtime redistributable package was not installed successfully. Setup cannot continue. (1603)

Now, from my understanding this is an Origin being a dumb program moreso than my computer actually having a problem. So wtf do I do? With how long it's been out I'd think they'd fix any kinks in downloading... or is everyone taking repair lessons from Blizzard? 😛

Try manually running all four of the vcredist_x64.exe files from the following location:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\__Installer\vc\

Although named the same they are slightly different and all four should be run.

Had this problem today, nice to know Origin hasn't improved at all in the course of a year.

@Cyraneternal @IKobi_Blade unfortunately the vc++ redistributables are on Microsoft. The very same Microsoft that could not be bothered to make a cumulative installer for all the versions of the Visual C++ redist. I have on my PC all the versions for this since 2005 until our days. All are needed for one game or another. Same goes for .Net Framework, another redist needed in a lot of games. If a redist can't be installed, it usually doesn't find one of the Windows updates that they depend on. So a Windows update might or might not solved that.

Also, check your admin privileges. If you are not logged as an admin on your PC, you might be stopped to install certain software.

Origin might still have a long way to go, but is getting there, though not as fast as we might want. Meanwhile, i find the beta version a lot more stable for reasons that are eluding me🙂

  • ADD Me As Well just got my PC fixed and this VC++ dose it not download everything on its Own !!
