A couple things... I am deeply disappointed at the Devs for not responding to any level of issues that people are still having with the game. It disgusts me. The initial release of the game ran utterly stable on Mantle and AMD exclusive systems + intel ones. After patching it failed regularly. What does that mean? They fixed their largest revenue stream (consoles) and left the PC people sucking wind.
I just ran the game for 8 + (now 12) hours last night without a single issue. I cannot confirm if this will work for Nvidia users or anyone not running Mantle, however, I'm pretty certain it's related to the same findings as a couple other people.
1. After hearing about memory leaks I created a 120GB swap file on a separate, traditional, Hard disk ( the game itself sits on my Plextor 256GB SSD). This did not fix the issue, in and of itself.
The game engine ABSOLUTELY adores people with HIGH BANDWIDTH RAM. This is true in BF4 where my DDR3 2666 gets me about 10+ more FPS. After patches, this is no longer correct on the version of the Dragon Age Inquisition Engine.
2. As some have suggested, replacing RAM with slower or new slower stuff.... I was unwilling to spend more than the 400 bucks I dropped on the 290X that got the game working prior to patches... I simply went into the bios and killed my valid XMP profile for my 2666 memory. My ram is now running at 1333, and the game had been UTTERLY STABLE FOR 12 HOURS.
Conclusion: If you have anything faster than the rated capability of your processor , slow it down. if you still have the issue at 2133, 1833 (on AMD) or 1600 (on Intel), drop your memory to around 1333. Honest to God, my framerates became smooth and everything worked flawlessly. I have been running the game at MAXIMUM settings and loving the hell out of it.
I am disappointed that EA / Bioware couldn't figure this out through internal testing and release a statement. However in doing so, basically, they would have told you that you have to butcher your performance settings to get the thing to run. BF4 works at 2666 RAM speeds, Dragon Age Inquisition does not... I would have been playing this for over a month now if I had known. Couldn't accept it since EVER OTHER GAME ON THE PLANET is fine with my 2666 RAM speeds.
Dial your memory back as far as you are willing to and start playing. Shame on you EA and Bioware....
Configuration:
ASROCK Z87ITX Latest Bios
Intel Devils Canyon 4.0 GHZ i7 Processor
16 GB TEAMX DDR3 2666Mhz (at 1333)
1 Corsair MX100 512 GB Hard Drive (Primary)
1 Plextor 256GM mSata card (Game drive)
1 Western Digital RE4 500 GB 7200RPM 64 MB Configured as backup and Swap file (slow as hell, do not use as a boot drive even in raid..)
1 MSI Gaming AMD 290X
Gonna have to try it out in the front room on the Nvidia 970GTX and 65" TV 😉 !
I love how everyone's anectotal evidence is completely different and random....yet people are somehow convinced that they have figured out what's going on but aren't sure as to why.
So far we have
- You have to change the multicore affinity
- You have to change the priority to lowest
- You have to underclock your GPU
- You have to overclock your GPU
- You can't install it on an SSD drive
- It's a RAM issue
- You have to change the audio settings
- You have to play in Windowed mode.
- You have to reinstall Windows
- It's a directx issue
Keep em coming guys!

!!!! UPDATE 4.0 !!!
Still Crashes after Uninstalling GFE and FireFox..
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update 3
After my last post I started DAI and closed Firefox. Its been about 4 hours now and no crash. crossing fingers. Will post back later.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update 2
Game just crashed again, uninstalling gforce experience did noting to solve the issue!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update: I have been playing Dragon Age Inquisition for more than 2 hours now with not a single crash as fully cranked ultra-quality settings with no crash at all.
The Fix, Updated all drivers, updated the redistributables and ---> UNINSTALLED NVIDIA GEFORCE EXPERIENCE <--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Try this:
Lower all setting so the lowest possible setting, (ea, make sure your cup doesn’t overflow, RAM or VRAM), update your DirectX and turn off all visual improvements in Windows, (ea, take away the need to run DirectX for anything else). Problem solved, But not really, who wants to buy a game like THIS and look at crappie graphics??? Please hurry up EA, the game looks incredible but the crashes are killing it.
My PC, Windows score = 7.6. In short, its a beast runs everything else 80+ fps minimum.
SSD, i7 extreme 3.88,(no OC) 24GB DDR3, Nvidia 760 2Gb Vram. Windows 7 x64, SB Fatal1ty Pro,
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------bla bla bla...
I came to this after noticing the game would crash periodically to the white screen, the game would still be running but it would not render the actual picture in the window. It would also take out my web browser too. (FireFox) So in testing I turned off gforce experience. because I have had crashing problems with that in the past with other varrious games. Unfortunately about 30 min later the game crashed again, BUT, I noticed that gforce experience turned its-self back on. Hmmmm, I uninstalled it..
So its not crashing anymore, after uninstalling Geforce experience and closing firefox the game runs great. Must be same write space, non-addressable, unreachable or something like that, lol well...
I will post back
if itWHEN crashes again.
