Dragon Age Inquisition unplayable

Try setting your graphics to low and see if the performance improves, then you can start moving things a little at a time to see where your 'break point' is.  I have a pretty damn good machine and have to have it on low settings, but it honestly still looks pretty good.

I had this problem also...it has happened to me twice. The game suddenly lags badly and everthing, including saving and loading takes 10-20 times as long. Even trying to ALT-TAB to desktop takes forever. It's just like the CPU usage has spiked to 100%, what with the input lag and everything. Someone mentioned that quick traveling to another location can sometimes resolve this, but it didn't work in my case.

I restored an earlier save and the problems persisted. How does loading times of 15 minutes strike you? 15 minutes! I honestly thought the system had crashed, but the slow flickering icon on the bottom right corner showed me that the game was still chugging along. And when the game finally displays, everyhthing was loaded in slow motion - i.e. your Inquisitor initially appears in an empty game world, and then the enviromental textures will appear, then the animations etc. And with the terrible lag, your're essentially playing a slide show.

The first time it happened I was fairly early in the game, about 10 hrs or so. I had fast travelled from The Hinterlands to Haven, and boom! The game ran like molasses from that point on. I remembered the message "lost connection to the Dragon Age servers" for some time before the game got really laggy. I stopped playing for a couple of days...loading times of 10-15 minutes were no fun 🙂 and the issue mysteriously resolved itself after a couple of days - even with the identical save game. Go figure.

The 2nd time happened last night - I was in Skyhold playing pranks with Sera, and bam! At the last cutscene, the game suddenly became super laggy. And what do you know? When I quit the game to the main menu (took about 10 minutes), the message "Lost connection to the Dragon Age servers" appeared! That's the common theme in my case.

I wonder if the flaky connections to the servers caused these issues. Shades of Simcity? And what the heck does it have to do with a single player game? Sigh

There is a hack issue with PSN that appears to be causing this. Just play offline. Switch your modem off.

Just putting this out there since it affected me. There's a problem going on that causes the game not to activate without a crack for some people and its also causing the game to go slower.

I tried the borderless option  - no change I'm afraid. And bizarrely the GeForce Experience doesnt even recognise it as one of my games.  Maybe it knows it's a piece of dross.  Hope the patch comes out soon so we can both enjoy it.

Bought this game for my wife. Our system plays every game we have thrown at it on High-Ultra Settings at steady 40-100+ FPS. This game however, is just ridiculous. 

Menu/Settings

Right from the get go the menu animation plays for 5-10 secs with no issue and then freezes. This repeats while sitting on the menu. When you go into the options you get the same issue. You have 5-10 secs to make changes then a 3-5 sec freeze.

Character creation

Character creation actually runs fairly decent with a 3-5 sec freeze every once in a while. Another issue though, if you take too long to create a character the game just closes.

Cut scenes

Just like with the Menu, the cut scenes play for 5-10 secs with no issue and then freeze for 3-5 secs.

Gameplay

Gameplay again follows with the same underlining issue. You can play for 5-10 secs with no issue and then it freezes for 3-5 secs. Also added during gameplay though, the additional issue from character creation. After a while of gameplay, about 10-30mins, the game just closes.

Notes

I do not receive any error messages. CPU Usage maxes out to 100 and stays maxed out.

Attempted Fixes

Reinstalling Game/Origin, Repairing Game, Clearing Origin Cache, Clean Boot, Reinstalling Graphics Drivers, Disabling Overlays, Running In Windowed/Fullscreen, Low/Med/High/Ultra Settings, AMD Gaming Evolved Suggested settings and prob a few other things.

So far this has been a very big disappointment and a waste of money. I see no date for the next patch or that it is meant to resolve any of these issues. To sell a product that is damaged as a new fully functional product is thieving.
