So I sent Leliana to do the mission "Investigate the chalk drawings" last night and when I loaded the game se had finished the mission. However it appear that another quest spawned on top of that quest, that other quest being "A Present for Bianca" and now Leliana is stuck doing that quest with no timer and there appears to be no way to cancel it.
Same here.
I simply leveled up my Inquisitor, and after I left the war room it informed me that "A Present for Bianca" is available. I went in and noticed that it's already in progress without a timer, assigned to Leliana.
Just the same stuff here, A Present for Bianca, no timer, cant cancel.
Seems like it's tied to the "Eagle Eyed" perk (Secrets - gives a greater search radius). I loaded a save that is was just before I gained the perk, and the mission doesn't appear.

Best to wait until after the "Hard in Hightown" mission chain completes AND the actual Bianca mission appears (and then subsequently completed) before taking this perk.
Thats totally possible, didnt pay much attention to timing, but i have that perk and maybe that quest appeared after i got it, but still - its stuck, im far ahead of the save that would undo the start and i would like to know if there is any way to stop it or something.
I was informed that quest bugs after a certain amount of points in the Spy tree/perks, meaning it'll pretty much happen guaranteed in any playthrough.
Does anyone know if/when it "naturally" unlocks or is it unlocking just tied to the Spy tree (and thus why it's tied to Lelianna herself?)
UPDATE: It would only trigger if I chose Eagle Eye perk in the Spy tree, it was my 2nd point in the tree and that's counting the one agent I had. Afterwards, in the lower left corner on my "map quest ticker" it said something like "Present for Bianca... something something something" and vanished very quickly before I could read it all. I'm assuming it most likely said "complete" or something like the progress ticker resolved itself.
After a few wasted hours of trying to find a workaround for this I've run out of ideas. And am fairly convinced that there is none, maybe besides not getting eagle eye perk (my savegames with and without Eagle eye perk are too far apart to test it), because i've tried doing them both at the same time (resulted in Josephine getting "stuck" on "ivestigate chalk yada yada" quest in a same manner as Leliana does with bianca quest. Tried doing them one at a time and doing the chalk quest resulted in Leliana getting stuck on bianca quest and that annoying marker staying there. When I did Bianca quest first, I got Bianca aiming module II and a schematic for Bianca Arms 1 (enhanced) for a reward and Chalk quest disappeared. While looking for workaround I didn't exit map at war council to make sure nothing intereferes with it. Tried it on PC.
tl;dr
- Couldn't find workaround. Don't think there is one.
- A present for Bianca quest reward is aiming module and a schematic of bianca arms 1 (enhanced). Ivestigate chalk drawings disappears.
- Ivestigate chalk drawings reward is 30 influence regardless of a character you do it with. Leliana gets stuck on bianca arms quest.
- Trying to do both of them at the same time results in Josephine getting stuck on a Investigate Chalk Drawings quest.
Possible courses of action:
- Don't pick eagle eye perk
- Get Eagle Eye perk as your VERY FIRST perk and complete "Present for Bianca" as soon as it appears. (Haven't tested this one, don't know if youl would get Investigate Chalk quest later on)
- Ignore both quests completely until they patch it
- Weigh the rewards and pick one of them. (Reward for "A present for Bianca" looks better in my book)..
Update:
After I **bleep** up some of my crafting, I hit quickload button. Little did I remember that I quicksaved after sending Josephine to investigate markings, Leliana to look for a Gift for Bianca and Cullen to collect gold (I firmly believe that cullen was optional). So the game loads and LO AND BEHOLD I get notification that all three of them have done their missions and are awaiting to report. So I got rewards for both of the quests. A gift for Bianca disappeared from the map and Chalk markings are still there, but in Completed state. Mind you I haven't done anything game wise besides trying to find a workaround for this little problem, but I don't think that adventuring in Thedas would hurt this method. As long as you Save and Load the game after completion time for both missions runs to zero (which should be about an hour)
Possible workaround:
- Send Josephine to Investigate Chalk markings and Send Leliana to look for A gift for Bianca at the same time. Faff around for about an hour. Save game, load game. Both quests should have their rewards ready.
When does Present for Bianca actually unlock? I did the Chalk one forever ago. I never took the Eagle Eye perk though. The Bianca thing ONLY shows up if I take Eagle Eye. So... because I did Chalk did I somehow make the other one vanish without realizing it?
