Dragon Age Inquisition Won't Launch Under Windows 10

I have been playing Inquisition for some time under Windows 10 when I came across the problem that it wouldn't load. I got the quick flicker of a Blank screen then nothing. I had a system issue and re-installed Windows 10. New installation of Origin and Inquisition didn't resolve the problem.

I have followed some of the threads but no joy. However I have posted my DxDiag output to Hastbin - link http://hastebin.com/uxaxuxafic.tex.

Help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Dave

First if you have AVG, create an exception for DAI and Origin or, disable AVG and see if that works. Some have found that they have to uninstall AVG and us another AV such as BitDefender or Avast.

Second, you've got only intel chipset graphics, not a graphics card at all. While with it's SHARED memory it should run the game, it's dedicated alone is below the 512MB minimum the game requires so it's going to be hard on that chip to run the game. That's a desktop so, you might want to look into getting a graphics card for it. Cards that will run the game are not terribly expensive but do make sure you have the expansion slot and power supply in that computer to use the card before you buy one.

Many thanks for your reply and pointers to tackle the problem.

Firstly, I ensured AVG allowed exceptions for ActivationUI.EXE, Origin.EXE, OriginClientService.EXE and DragonAgeInquisition.EXE. That didn't resolve the problem and I then disabled AVG. I got the same result.

I will get and install a suitable graphics card and see if that helps.

    I will keep you posted

Try uninstalling AVG entirely, a few have had to do that. I have read that AVAST and BitDefender are fine and, i have Norton so, I know it's fine.

Again thank you for the advice.

I've obtained and installed a new Graphics card - I really needed one as you rightly pointed out! I went back and looked at AVG. Under its Advanced Settings you can disable the Anti-Virus protection but keep in place the Firewall. I ensured that the Origin.EXE, OriginClientServices.EXE and DragonAgeInquisition.EXE were all in the exception list. I disabled AVG and the game ran successfully. After playing, I can enable AVG and I'm back to normal.

I think this resolves the problem. Thank you

    Dave
