So, I must've spent around 40 minutes customising the tapestry in the keep, trying to remember all the choices I made in the previous games. Apparently it was exported from the Keep and imported when I started a new game. Already I have encountered Leliana and who appears to be Alistair. I suppose after playing Mass Effect 3 I should be used to the fact that the choices I make ultimately have no impact whatsoever, despite being promised they would.

Not sure about Alistair, but Leliana staying alive even if she died in The Sacred Ashes has been cannon since DA2. We were supposed to get an explanation somewhere in this game, though.
