Dragon Age: Origins original launcher while using EA Origin?

I was wondering if it's possible to keep the original launcher of DAO while using EA Origin and not through the retail cd.

I like the original launcher because it gives me the configure option together with things like direct links to support, forum

and documentation, right now EA Origin just skips the launcher and the music and just goes straight to the game.

I used my retail Ultimate edition cd to redeem on EA Origin and when I download on EA Origin, it removes the launcher.

I would be thankful for any solution to this.

  • Two points:

    1)  Yes, using the copy of the Launcher (plus the supporting files) from your retail disc will work fine, but;

    2)  You can just make a desktop shorcut to the configuration utility.  It's in your DAO "\bin_ship" folder under "\Program Files", (the same folder where the main game executable "daorigins.exe" is.)  It's called: "DAOriginsConfig.exe".

    The Launcher simply gave a way to choose the game program, the config program, or the other support programs that no longer work (since they were on-line, and EA dropped/moved things.)
